Lecture Synopsis

Dental practices have been able to thrive as small, independent businesses. However, there are a number of economic factors today that are threatening the way our practices have traditionally operated. With the looming threats of increased competition and decreasing revenue, dentists will benefit from learning how to think like a CEO. In this workshop we will learn about and use popular management models to re-imagine our businesses. Participants will complete worksheets and discuss specific strategies for their own practices.

Learning Objectives:

- Identifying macroeconomic factors that influence your practice

- Applying business management models to the modern dental practice

- Profitability analysis and calculations for investing in technology

- Identifying weak operations and strategizing how to strengthen them

Biography

Dr. Chris Salierno is a general dentist from Long Island, New York. He graduated from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine in 2005. Dr. Salierno has served as the National President of the American Student Dental Association, Chair of the ADA New Dentist Committee, and as President of his local dental society. He lectures internationally on clinical dentistry, practice management, and leadership development. His material can be viewed on his blog, The Curious Dentist. He was the Chief Editor of Dental Economics from 2014 to 2021. In 2021, he became the Chief Dental Officer at Tend.

I am pleased to announce that this year’s Annual General Meeting will be held at Edmonton Convention Centre (9797 Jasper Ave, Edmonton) on Friday May 8^th beginning at 3:30 pm ( immediately after the scientific session )

Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served. The AGM will last approximately 1 hour.

Edmonton & District Dental Society presents NorthWest Dental Exposition 2026

The EDDS's NorthWest Dental Exposition (NWDE) is among the largest single-day dental trade shows in Canada. This full-day meeting will include scientific sessions as well as an exhibit hall. The goal of NWDE 2026 is to provide our participants with the best experience in CE courses and connecting with their industry partners.

NWDE 2026 lectures and exhibit hall will be held at Edmonton Conference Centre on September 11, 2026 (Friday). This year’s theme is “Spark”.
