Biography

Dr. Carilynne Yarascavitch is a Dentist-Anesthesiologist and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry (Jul 2013). Carilynne is active in the training of both undergraduate dental students and graduate dental anaesthesia residents at the Faculty of Dentistry as both a didactic and clinical instructor. She is the current Program Director for the Graduate Dental Anaesthesia Specialty Program at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Yarascavitch received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Brock University (Jun 2000), followed by her Doctor of Dental Surgery (Jun 2004) and Masters of Science in Dental Anesthesiology (Oct 2008) from the University of Toronto. As a Diplomate of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology (Apr 2009), she is a Certified Specialist in Dental Anaesthesia in Ontario, Canada (May 2009). She is Active Staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (Dec 2012). Her deep sedation and general anesthesia practice at this large tertiary care academic hospital provides access to care for dental phobic, special needs, and medically complex patients.

Dr. Yarascavitch is former Research Fellow at the Wilson Centre for Education Research, Toronto General Hospital (University Health Network) (2007-2015). Carilynne is an active member of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Dental Anesthesiology Research (DAR) Group, International Federation of Dental Anesthesia Societies (IFDAS), American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists (ASDA), Canadian Academy of Dental Anaesthesia (CADA), and the Canadian Association of Hospital Dentists (CAHD). She is also a Heart and Stroke Certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Dec 2007), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Apr 2019) and Basic Life Support (BLS) (Apr 2019) instructor and teaches with both the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Advanced Life Support (ALS) Educators and Canadian International Medical Relief Organization (CIMRO). Broadly, her clinical and research interests include sedation and dental care for special needs and medically complex patients as well as health professions education research and scholarship. She lectures and participates locally, nationally, and internationally in clinical and research interests related to Dental Anesthesia and Dental Education.
