Lecture Synopsis
Participants will attend a course which encompasses intraoral optical scanning utilizing digital images for prosthetic execution of clear aligners, digital dentures and implant prosthetics. This course aims to describe the background, theory, and procedures related to intraoral optical image production and generating scans to assist in digital workflow including treatment planning, treatment execution, and maintenance of clinical cases.
Biography
Dr. Melissa Shotell
Dr. Melissa Shotell is a Board Certified Orthodontist and practices in a multi-specialty practice in Sonora, CA focusing on the interplay of orthodontics and restorative treatment. After completing dental school Dr. Shotell practiced as a restorative dentist for several years, then returned to school to complete a certificate and master’s degree in orthodontics from Loma Linda University. Dr. Shotell considers education to be her passion presents nationally and internationally on dental technology, is part-time clinical faculty at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas orthodontics department, and teaches in the CE department for the University of Alberta. She is also a reviewer for the Journal of Aligner Orthodonics.
Dr. Shotell is also the co-founder and chief clinical officer of Plus Orthodontics. Dr. Shotell shares tips and tricks on orthodontics and clear aligners on social media as alignerbee.
Dr. Michael Scherer
Dr. Michael Scherer serves as the Chief Clinical Officer for Zest Dental Solutions, is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Loma Linda University, a Clinical Instructor at University of Nevada – Las Vegas, and maintains a successful practice limited to prosthodontics and implant dentistry in Sonora, California. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Prosthodontists and the American Board of Oral Implantology, two credentials only held by small handful of people in the world. He has published numerous articles, books, and in-person and online courses related to implant dentistry, clinical prosthodontics, and digital technology with a special emphasis on full-arch reconstruction.
As an avid technology & computer hobbyist, Dr. Scherer’s involvement in digital dentistry has led him to develop and pioneer new approaches with restorative & surgical full-arch implantology, 3D printing workflows, CAD/CAM systems, and outside of the box radiographic imaging and digital design concepts. Over the past 10 years, he has given over 360 presentations at dental conferences, main podium presentations, in-office training, and hands-on workshops. He has coached thousands of dentists around the world on how to integrate digital dentistry and implant dentistry from a high tech yet “wet-fingered, real-world” clinical perspective that makes his presentation style well-received by clinicians.
